Matt Poole is a former Ironman champion, Red Bull athlete, and Australian surf sports figure known for his elite career across the Nutri-Grain Ironman Series and the broader surf lifesaving circuit. Over 15 years at the top level, he became one of the sport’s most recognisable competitors, highlighted by his 2017 Ironman Series win and consistent presence at major national events.

Now retired from full-time racing, Matt has transitioned into commentary for the Shaw and Partners Summer of Surf, bringing his deep race experience and insight to broadcast coverage. He remains closely connected to the sport through coaching roles, including work across surf and swim development programs, where he supports emerging athletes building their pathway in surf lifesaving.

Based on the Gold Coast, Matt has built a strong lifestyle and business presence beyond sport. He is a co-owner of Gravity Seltzers and has been involved in hospitality ventures, reflecting his shift into entrepreneurship while staying connected to the coastal lifestyle he’s always lived and worked in.

Above all, Matt is a proud dad of two, Posy and Parker. Family life is now central to his world, and he often shares time between early mornings at the beach, home life, and being present in the everyday rhythm of fatherhood.
